The Fluker Post is located at the rear of Overnewton Anglican Community College. The deep valley has been home for the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation for up to 40,000 years. The post sits on the elevated bank of the Maribrynong River, not far from its origin. The river dramatically winds around small farm properties and market gardens. Many native species exist in the area including kangaroo, wallabies, flying foxes, brushtail possums, waters rats, echidna and platypus. Native birds include cockatoo, lorikeet, galah, brown and peregrine falcons, and kite. Native reptile species include brown and tiger snakes, and skinks. The Fluker Post is erected as an educational tool for our students to learn about water flow, and to demonstrate a positive example of how technology can be used in outdoor environments.
