RIV36 Barwon River Estuary

RIV36 is situated on the Barwon River estuary, Ocean Grove, Victoria. This Fluker Post was installed to monitor changes in mangrove distribution on the Barwon River estuary. Mangroves are small trees that form an important protective fringe along the estuary of the Barwon River. The species of mangrove found on the Barwon River is the White Mangrove (Avicennia marina), the only mangrove species found in Victoria. These mangroves provide habitat to a variety of fish, crustaceans and birds. The photos taken at this Fluker Post will complement monthly observations and water quality data collected by the Barwon River EstuaryWatch group.
