Ryans Creek is being revegetated as a volcanic grassy creekline ecosystem. The revegetation work by the Friends of the Melton Botanic Garden started in June 2008 with the first plantings. The creek is non-perennial and only flows after rain. Some ponding areas will hold water for a month or so after rain. The Creekers Group manage the creek. Latham’s Snipe may be seen in the creek vegetation from October to February. There is much bird life along the creek.
