The Dryland Eucalyptus Arboretum features over 100 species eucalypts, with around 500 trees planted from areas where the natural rainfall is 450mm or less. Melton is the driest part of the Melbourne area, with a long term annual rainfall of 450-500 mm. The Melton climate is well suited to dryland plants and this is an important feature of our plantings. The Eucalyptus Arboretum occupies about 7 acres or 3 hectares of the garden. The arboretum also has many Eremophilas and other dryland natives as understorey. The garden is being developed and maintained by volunteers and we hope you take and post photos to contribute to the monitoring of the garden growth and other changes.
